Wanderer
That's... wow. I'm without words. I'm guessing from the covers there's some sort of time travel / alternate timelines involved. Also drones, obviously. Could be really awesome.
ArkanGL
I am 100% confident that it will kick all sorts of ass.
Digitalyn
Already checked if I could preorder in the Previews catalog. => Couldn't. I know I said "never preorder a [thing]" but...
Psychophant
I cannot help but wonder whether the title may be due to a certain poster close to Gibson using that nick. Or serendipity. Though probably it will just be synchronicity between Archangel and ArkanGL. But I will go with the conspiracy theory version. Yes, I will go out of my way to use serendipity or synchronicity. I love both the words and their meaning. Sue me.

ArkanGL
If I'm not mistaken, it's actually named after the Arkhangelsk WW2 airbase. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talagi_Airport (that airbase is totally named after me)
db
There's a decent spy thriller called Archangel. I believe they made a movie or TV movie from it, too.
Psychophant
Archangel was the destination of most Arctic convoys in WWII, but as far as I know during that war its airbase was mainly used for air defence of those convoys, and was built for that reason in 1942. In the same way, during the Cold War, Archangel air base was used for long range interceptors, defending the Russian arctic border from potential US long range bomber attacks. Due to the climate the USSR did not keep long range bombers in the Arctic, but had what were called "bounce bases" for quick refueling before patrol/attack. From what I know Archangel was never one of those, as it was too close to an important population center. The city was apparently raided by the vikings, and the name comes from a XIIth century monastery to archangel Michael. Now I am wondering what of the three official Catholic archangels (Michael, Gabriel, Raphael) or the many unofficial ones hides under ArkanGL. Of course we know that the secret history of the world may be fully different.

db
That interior reminds me of an Einsturzende Neubauten video or some Hasa photos maybe? and also of some of Uberdog's fiction, actually. Or was it in Pete's book, Winter Republik? Anyway. I am going to dig this a lot, I'm sure.

db
I gather from twitter that a character is named Naomi. Wonder where he got that from?
ArkanGL
I have it. Last copy the store had (they only ordered a handful). I half-remember Archangel's Naomi being named a couple of weeks before my own. But... fuck it: he totally named the book after my WGB handle and the main character is named after my daughter. (seriously, though, I'm pretty sure it's all a coincidence)
Digitalyn
Still waiting for mine but super excited. Grouped order of comics with local buddies, i'd guess it's only a matter of time now to receive it.
Garage_Rubin
`Naomi' probably is a coincidence, but I wouldn't be so sure about the `Archangel', ArkanGL. ;-) Cheers, Patrick.
gil
I've now belatedly Kindle-downloaded 2 issues of Archangel, and my main feeling is that they cover far too much plot ground in far too little graphics - just a few pages per issue. OK. It was probably a movie idea storyboard originally, but the main plot, alternate timelines, is easily missed, and the main protagonists, other than Naomi, are a bit unclear. Am I being too critical? Also, the Kindle version I've got refuses to enlarge the page where WG talks about the book, and it's so small I can't read it on my XOOM. Chris H
Gil, try Comixology; they're carrying the whole series and the reader is pretty good.
